Bye bye

It’s a sad day…

My S4 has been sold.

I am offically old.

New Toys

I picked up a Sony Location Free Base Station a couple weeks back and finally got around to installing it. Pretty amazing. The latest PSP firmware has a built-in player and basically just “works”. Pretty amazing. I got Sharon’s PSP working with it in seconds, and then I found out the hard way that it only works for one client at a time…

Connected all the time

I really didn’t want to do this, but being the good geek I am. I broke down. I asked the IT department for one of these, and I actually got it. I am now offically connected to my office email ALL THE TIME. I don’t know if this is good or bad, but it is damn convenient.

Anyway, the next year looks like a good one for gadgets. Just hope work doesn’t kill me before the year is over.

It’s all the rage

So the whole AT&T merger thing is getting a little funny.

Anyone in the know, knows that the “new” AT&T is really the “old” AT&T. So, AT&T is buying BellSouth, which was one of the original 7 Baby Bells.

This is only funny because:

  • old AT&T –> PacBell, SWBell, BellSouth and AT&T Wireless and the AT&T Long Distance Guys and Lucent and a couple others
  • PacBell + SWBell = SBC
  • SBC+ BellSouth + AT&T Wireless = Cingular but the AT&T Long Distance Guys keep the rights to the AT&T Wireless name
  • AT&T Long Distance Guys + SBC = new AT&T
  • new AT&T + BellSouth = Newer AT&T
  • Since BellSouth and SBC = owners of Cingular –> Newer AT&T = owner of Cingular and the AT&T Wireless name
  • In summary: AT&T Wireless will be back, I’m sure. Basically, this just ends badly for Lucent / Agere.

The boys over at Engadget have a nice little summary for all.
