I have thought many times recently about changing political parties.
- I believe political correctness has gone wayyyy too far (point for Republicans).
- I make an above average wage and come from a middle class family that prides itself on doing better work than the next person (point for Republicans)
However, in the end I still can’t do it for the following reasons.
- Incredible amount of Judeo-Christian morality in all the speeches (I’m a moral person, but to wrap every presentation in God really is against the principles of why we’re sitting on this side of the world). Morality good –> Bible Thumping bad.
- Why not focus on real issues instead of talking about morality and no child left behind. Do you know what’s really moral? Forcing parents to take responsibility for their children’s actions. That would honestly solved about 50% of our country’s “moral” issues.
- The Good-Old-Boy Club has tried to induct new members by harassing them on webpages.
- The guy taking my order at McDonalds has a higher IQ and is more cultured that GWB.
In the end, I’m still a Donkey although I do not flag wave. I believe that welfare and public service programs are largely a waste of money. The one thing the Republican Party has right is the fact that morality should be the basis of government, and the government should treat it’s citizens as children who will one day inherit their seat instead of being and overprotective “do as I say not as I do” kind of entity.
When political appointees start to take their jobs seriously as some parents do, we’ll all be in better shape. You know what the real problem is? Good parents don’t have the time to raise the required $10 million to run for office. They’re too busy raising their family right.
